New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists

The New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists (NZSA) was established in 1948. Our motto is ‘Salus Per Scientiam' (safety through knowledge). The Society believes in supporting continuing education and research for and by all those involved with anaesthesia (anaesthetists, technicians, nurses, allied health professionals, technology companies and patients). It's objective is to improve safety and benefit patients.

The aims of the Society are to:

  • promote the status of anaesthesia in New Zealand

  • promote education in anaesthesia

  • facilitate the exchange of ideas and information between anaesthetists

  • encourage research into questions pertaining to anaesthesia

  • encourage the publication of articles on anaesthesia

  • enter into collegial arrangements with other anaesthetic organisations.

NZSA - A Voice for New Zealand Anaesthetists

The NZSA continues to make sure that the collective voice of anaesthetists in New Zealand is heard, via ongoing submissions to government organisations, other professional bodies and lay groups regarding proposed legislative changes and any other issues relevant to it's members.
