The
theme for this year’s one-day Christchurch
Hospital’s Department of
Anaesthesia CPD meeting is “Building Strong Foundations”, with an emphasis on
achieving clinical excellence in the fundamental components of anaesthesia. The
morning will comprise small group practical learning in workshops and PBLDs at
the hospital, while the afternoon will involve lecture presentations at the
Commodore Hotel, Russley. Keynote speaker is Professor Kate Leslie, who will
then be ANZCA’s immediate past president. Presentation topics include:
perioperative thermal management; how earthquakes affect our ability to care
for patients; perioperative PONV management; what you can get out of using a
Pharmacokinetic Navigator; what Video Laryngoscope? A consumer guide to what is
on the market; massive transfusion protocols; dabigatran and new generation
anti-platelet agents; and building a paediatric anaesthesia utopia: the new
